McCain ended the Republican Convention with a pretty good speech. He is no the best speaker in the world, but his speech was pretty good. I was thrilled to finally hear someone talk policy. He talked about everything HE intends to do and did not spend half of his speech saying what the other guy is not going to do. While I do not agree with him on everything, I would say at this point I am much more comfortable voting for McCain than Obama. Why?
1 - I am 100% pro life. Having a son on the way only solidifies my opinion more than life begins at conception.
2 - You have to do more than speak well to be president.
3 - The Democrats, liberals, whatever.....do not have a history of smaller government. I want smaller government.
4 - We are in this war and we better not quit after the sacrifices the troops, and the families of the troops, have made of the last several years.
I said before that I don't think Palin is going to bring enough to McCain to put him over the hump. The funny part is, she and Obama are very similar. They are both magnificent speakers, but in all honesty...neither has a long enough political history for us to truly gauge what they will do with as much power as what comes with being president. However, Obama seems - as Caroline pointed out - to get a lot of support simply because of his speaking ability.
I guess only time will tell what the future holds.

You are a wise man. When I was your age, I was a liberal. You are way ahead of me. Your conservative uncle
